The interim calendar for the Assembly Budget Session has been issued, and the governor’s address will be given on the opening day of the session. The Gujarat state budget for the fiscal year 2025–2026 will be presented on February 20, which is Gujarat Day.
The Finance Minister will meet with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday to discuss the budget, which is nearing completion. Finalizing the budget, which is anticipated to be around 10% higher than the one from the previous year, would be the main focus of their discussion. The governor’s speech will kick off the budget session, and the House will thereafter hear a condolence speech.
Four meetings will be devoted to addressing government bills in the budget, and MLAs will present a range of government work concerns.
Three meetings will be held to discuss the governor’s speech. There will be two sessions to discuss and vote on further demands. The budget will be the subject of four further sessions.
Twelve seats will be available for discussion and voting on various financial requests during the budget session.
Prior to the budget announcement, a meeting of the ruling party is scheduled for February 18.
It is anticipated that State BJP President CR Patil, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other ministers and MLAs will actively participate in the session.
Another important milestone in Gujarat’s development is expected to be reached with the forthcoming budget session, which is expected to introduce important financial policies and economic initiatives for the state’s development.
Since 1995, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has controlled the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and has an absolute majority. The budget sessions have usually started in February in recent years. The budget was submitted on February 2, 2024, and the 2024–25 session started on February 1, 2024. On February 2, 2023, the budget for 2023–24 was also unveiled.
