Following Multiple Wake-Up Calls, Gujarat Govt Launches 24/7 PM-JAY Helpline

The Gujarat government has declared the opening of a special round-the-clock helpline to answer questions and handle grievances about the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Subsequent to this, there were several instances of fraud, including the death of two patients after angioplasty procedures carried out at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital under the PM-Jay program.

Through this program, residents will be able to learn more about the services and Ayushman cards that are available to PM-JAY plan beneficiaries, as well as other facilities that are available to them.

The helpline number 07966440104 is now open, allowing residents to lodge concerns, obtain information, and monitor the status of their complaints, according to State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel.

It is anticipated that this action will significantly expedite the complaint resolution procedure and enhance PM-JAY beneficiaries’ overall experience.

Patient complaints will be recorded by the helpdesk through phone calls. An SMS will be delivered to the complainant’s registered number upon complaint registration, giving them a unique registration number to monitor the complaint’s status.

The state government has set up a clear system for coordinating with the appropriate authorities in order to ensure prompt resolution; upon receiving complaints, the Chief District Health Officer (CDHO), the Medical Officer of Health, insurance companies, and the card approval agency will receive the necessary information.

Complainants will be given a deadline to provide supporting documentation for verification, and the complaint resolution procedure will entail gathering and verifying the necessary papers.

There are already more than 2.67 crore Ayushman cardholders in Gujarat. The Ayushman Bharat initiative guarantees the economically disadvantaged access to high-quality healthcare by granting beneficiaries cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh at licensed facilities.
