Samay Raina’s Gujarat Shows Have Been “Cancelled” Amid Ranveer Allahbadia’s Controversy

Following the Ranveer Allahbadia and other India’s Got Latent panellists’ controversy over BeerBiceps’ comments in one of the show’s episodes, host Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat has been “cancelled”, according to reports.

On Wednesday, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) issued threats against Samay Raina in Gujarat. PTI reported, Raina’s shows’ tickets have been removed from the BookMyShow.

The shows that are cancelled now, were then to be performed in three of the Gujarat cities, Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara.

Gujarat VHP spokesperson Hitendarsinh Rajput stated, “the stand-up comedian was set to perform in the state in April, but all his shows have been cancelled due to massive backlash over the Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversy”.

The comedian was about to be performed in Surat on April 17, Vadodara on April 18 and Ahmedabad on April 18 and 20.

PTI quoted Hintendarsinh Rajput, “It appears all these four shows have been cancelled due to public outrage against him in Gujarat. Though tickets for these shows were available till morning (of Wednesday) on BookMyShow, it seems they have been now taken down from portal”.

Ashwin Patel, another VHP leader, confirmed the development with the news agency and stated, “In view of the anger among people, it appears organisers have cancelled Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat”.

Patel also praised the Gujarat’s people for showing “alertness” midst the ongoing controversy and urged the organisers to refrain from holding such events in the state.
