The Delhi High Court has asked a response from Google after Aaradhya Bachchan’s requested that her plea to have false information about her health removed be considered without hearing from YouTube channels that did not reply to the matter.
Aaradhya’s plea was noticed by Justice Mini Pushkarna, who sought to proceed ex-parte because the defendants were not appearing fir the hearing and asked for a decree in her favor. The minor and her father filled the case, and the hearing is scheduled for March 17.
What is the application?
The “summary judgement” application was a part of a ongoing lawsuit. On April 20, 2023, the court granted an interim injunction, prohibiting a number of YouTube channels from disseminating false information regarding Aaradhya’s health, claiming that doing so was indicative of “morbid perversity”. It was ordered that Google remove videos that made false claims that she was “critically ill” or “no more”.
The court summoned YouTube Channels, like Bollywood Time, Bolly Pakora, Bolly Samosa, and Bollywood Shine, which noted that there was a prima facie argument for providing temporary relief in order to stop additional injury.
According to lawsuit, the Bachchan family’s reputation was harmed by certain YouTube videos that purportedly featured “absolutely false” information regarding Aaradhya’s health and personal life. Because the family name was “protectable as a trademark”, it was said to represent “the highest virtues”. It stated that the content was made only for “shock value, overnight popularity”, and financial gain, and that it infringed upon the minor’s policy.
