Amazon Prime Cracks Down: Password Sharing From 2025

Similar to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video will implement password-sharing regulations in India starting in 2025.

A Mint article states that the new regulations will allow customers to access their accounts from a maximum of five devices, including only two TVs.

An email issued to Amazon Prime members stated, “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices”.

Currently, Amazon Prime users are able to access their accounts on up to 10 devices without any further restrictions.

Even though Prime Video subscribers can still access up to five devices simultaneously, the 2 TV maximum can be a major drawback for certain users.

This also comes after the streaming service said that starting in 2025, its current members will have to see advertisements throughout movies and TV series.

According to Amazon, Prime Video will, however, have less advertisements than “linear TV and other streaming TV providers”. Additionally, it stated that a new Prime tier without advertisements will soon be available in India.

What are the current Amazon Prime membership options in India?

Currently, ₹1,499 is the cost of the Amazon Prime annual plan. This covers free Amazon delivery, Prime Video, and other things.

Subscriptions are priced at ₹299 for the month and ₹599 for the quarter.

A more basic version of the original package is offered via the Amazon Prime Lite and Prime Shopping Edition plans, which are priced at ₹799 and ₹399, respectively.
