Gujarat Lokseva Trust’s Heartwarming Milestone: Completes 34 Years Of Compassion And Service

In Ahmedabad on Saturday, December 7, 2024, Gujarat Lokseva Trust celebrated the 34th anniversary of its founding by holding “Lokseva Ka Utsav”, or the festival of public service, and reaffirmed its dedication to selflessness, service, and compassion in its 35th year.

To commemorate this historic occasion, the Gujarat Lokseva Trust launched its new program, “Vadil Dattak Yojana,” which aims to find senior citizens’ homes and offer them individualized support to ensure their comfort and dignity in their golden years. This initiative highlights the trust’s dedication to inclusion and empowerment.

Over 300 beneficiaries, including widows, Ahmedabad athletes, and people with disabilities, were invited by the trust to participate in the festivities. The event’s Chief Guest, Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Amit Shah, visited the domes, spoke with the recipients, and gave them tricycles, sewing machines, and sports equipment. Additionally, Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain attended the event.

Rohan Gupta, Trustee of Gujarat Lokseva Trust, said in his speech, “This journey of 34 years reflects the power of compassion and service. We identify 20-25 thousand beneficiaries each year and support them. In the last two years, we have helped more than two lakh people to get the benefits of government schemes. As we step into our 35th year, we are even more determined to continue our efforts to uplift the Vruddh (elderly), Vidyarthi (students), Viklang (differently-abled), Vidhva (widows) and Vanchit (the underprivileged) and create a meaningful change.”

Speaking on the event, Amit Shah said, “As Gujarat Lokseva Trust enters its 35th year, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the trustees for their noble and selfless efforts. I am here today to acknowledge the remarkable work being done by this organisation. True knowledge, as Swami Vivekananda said, lies in rising above oneself to serve others. This trust exemplifies this spirit of service and compassion.”

Additionally, as envisioned by the committee that framed the Indian Constitution, he reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to public welfare. He said that the government has implemented numerous measures to guarantee residents access to necessities including housing, food, healthcare, and education since Narendra Modi took office as prime minister in 2014.

He added, “These initiatives have lifted 25 crore people out of poverty in the last ten years. However, I firmly believe that the government cannot achieve this on its own. Many trusts and individuals have contributed to realising this”.

The Union Home minister also praised Gujarat’s ingrained service ideals, emphasizing the state’s leadership in organ and eye donations, charitable healthcare facilities, and blood donation per capita.

He continued, “Gujarat continues to inspire the nation with its values of service and philanthropy. Organisations like Gujarat Lokseva Trust are pivotal in building a welfare state”.

The Gujarat Lokseva Trust was founded in 1990 by Rajkumar and Surekha Gupta, and since then, it has been devotedly helping those in need. By offering scholarships, tricycles, wheelchairs, and other equipment to the disabled, setting up free medical checkup camps, offering medical aid, and other ways, the trust has benefited over 5 lakh people. Furthermore, by serving as a conduit between the government and its beneficiaries, the trust assists underprivileged populations in obtaining the advantages of numerous government programs.

The trust’s services have touched thousands of people through the use of social media and other platforms. Additionally, this effort has inspired others to get involved with the trust and lend their support to its admirable goals.

As the trust approaches its 35th anniversary, it has decided to build a campus to give free education to children, a hospital to give free medical care to those in need, an old-age home for the elderly, an orphanage, and a self-employment training center to help the poor become self-sufficient.

The trust serves as a beacon of hope for the poor as well as a symbol of dedication to humanity. The trust is dedicated to taking its operations to the next level under the capable direction of Rohan Gupta and Arpan Gupta.
