Khyati Hospital Case: 112 Patients Lost Lives In Three Years

According to the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, throughout the previous three years, the Khyati Multispeciality Hospital carried out 3,842 procedures as part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).

Crucially, 112 patients lost their lives as a result of these therapies. The hospital was suspected of carelessness in these deaths after investigations showed that appropriate care was not given during treatment.

The Crime Branch and a committee of medical experts will work together to investigate the suspicious deaths in light of these findings.

According to preliminary findings, people from rural areas underwent needless stent implantation and angiographies. Five different reports about mysterious deaths following stent placements in this hospital have been submitted to the Vastrapur Police Station.

There are now eleven recorded deaths after more cases from Central and North Gujarat were discovered.

So far, the Crime Branch has arrested Dr Sanjay Patoliya, Chirag Rajput, Rahul Jain, Milind Patel, Dr Prashant Vazirani, and two marketing team members.

According to Ahmedabad Crime Branch ACP Bharat Patel, 8,534 patients were treated at Khyati Hospital between September 1, 2021, and October 28, 2024.

Of them, 112 deaths were reported during or following procedures, and 3,842 were treated under PM-JAY. This noteworthy number has led to thorough examinations of the records and medical care of every patient who has passed away.

Under PM-JAY, procedures were carried out carelessly “solely for financial gain,” according to testimony from Khyati Hospital staff. Therefore, senior officials have ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the 112 deaths, which are alleged to have been caused by negligence.

The accused conspired to create an audit report claiming a loss of ₹1.5 crore, the Crime Branch told the court during a remand hearing for Dr. Patoliya, the hospital’s medical director.

In order for the accused to grab important papers, including the fake audit report, the court allowed the Crime Branch to be remanded for seven days.

Even though Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police G S Malik turned over this critical case to the Crime Branch, the accused’s arrest delays have come under fire.
