Gujarat: Man Posing As Army Jawan Held in Porbandar

On Sunday, a 30-year-old guy was nabbed by police for reportedly trying to fool people by appearing as an Army soldier in public in Porbandar, Gujarat.

After being arrested on Saturday in the Kamla Baug neighborhood of Porbandar city, the accused, Sanjay Dodia, who lives in Shapar Veraval in the Rajkot district, was subsequently freed on bail, he claimed.

According to the Kamla Baug police station official, the culprit was discovered wearing the soldier’s outfit to give the impression that he was a military jawan, even though he was not in the Army.

He was charged with violating section 168 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which forbids anyone from disguising themselves as military personnel by wearing or carrying objects that resemble military uniforms or tokens, including badges or medals, he claimed.

The non-cognizable offense has a maximum sentence of three months in prison, a maximum fine of Rs 2,000, or both.
