On Tuesday, the Madhya Pradesh government announced that The Sabarmati Report, a movie on the Godhra train burning incident in 2002, would not be subject to state taxes. In making this announcement, MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav added that he would also go to watch the movie.
Directed by Dheeraj Sharma, the film stars Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna, among others. The Sabarmati Report revolves around the Godhra fire train incident in 2002, which led to riots in Gujarat.
The MP CM Mohan Yadav told reporters in Bhopal, “The Sabarmati Report is a very good movie. I will go to watch the movie myself. I also told my ministers, MLAs and MPs to watch this film. We are also going to make it tax-free in the state so that maximum people can watch it”. He claimed, The Godhra tragedy, was a sad chapter in history, and the movie will reveal the truth. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was then the Gujarat’s Chief Minister, preserved the honor of the state and the nation while alleging that the opposition was using the Godhra incident for “dirty politics” to get votes.
In reference to The Sabarmati Report movie, PM Narendra Modi stated earlier on Sunday that a false narrative can only last for a short time. PM Modi made the comments on X, reacting to a user’s post praising the movie The Sabarmati Report for “bringing out the important truth of one of the most shameful events in our recent history”.
On Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh’s Cabinet Minister, Vishwas Sarang stated that the film has exposed the truth about the Godhra incident, which claimed the lives of 59 people. The BJP leader asserted that the facts shown in the film demonstrated that the Congress and the opposition had created a story to disparage Gujarat globally at the time.
According to Vishwas Sarang, the Congress Consistently falsified history to disparage the nation’s majority group and mislead the public. He stated, “We, along with the party workers and the public, will watch ‘The Sabarmati Report’ movie”.
The Sabarmati Report is based on the actual events of the burning of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra and was produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, which is owned by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, as well as Amul V. Mohan and Anshul Mohan.
