3 Coaches of Secunderabad-Shalimar Express Train Derail Near Howrah

On Saturday morning, three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express (Train No. 22850) derailed close to Nalpur Station in Howrah, West Bengal. Two passenger coaches and a parcel van have derailed. The B1 coach was one of three coaches engaged in the incident, according to Omprakash Charan, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for Southeastern Railway.

When the incident was first reported this morning, both passengers and authorities expressed worry. But according to Omprakash Charna, there haven’t been any documented fatalities or injuries yet. According to the railroads, aid was promptly sent by way of an accident relief train and medical relief trains from Santragachi and Kharagpur. To transport the passengers to Kolkata, buses have also been dispatched.

Charna said, “During its journey from the middle line to the down line, the Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express train derailed at 5:31 a.m. Two passenger coaches and a parcel van have derailed. No significant casualties or injuries have been recorded. Ten or more buses have been scheduled for the passengers’ next destination”.

According to sources, the data provided by Indian Railways from 17 railway zones, 200 consequential railway incidents have resulted in 351 fatalities and 970 injuries during the past five years.

During an inspection of the PSU Braithwaite and Co. in Kolkata last month, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the number of accidents per year had decreased from 171 ten years ago to 40 at present.
