MUDA Case: Lokyukta Police Summons Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah For Questioning In Case

According to officials, on November 6, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was called by the Lokayukta to testify over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scandal.

An officer requesting anonymity stated, “The Chief Minister, the case’ primary accused (A1), has been instructed to appear at the Lokayukta office at Mysuru at 10 A.M on that date.”

This summons comes after numerous other people involved in the matter were questioned, including Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, identified as A2, who was interviewed by Lokayukta officials for more than 3 hours about her involvement.

Alleged discrepancies in the distribution of 14 MUDA sites, purportedly worth approximately Rs 56 crores, as payment for land purchased from Parvathi are the focus of investigation. Mysuru Lokayukta police superintendent TJ Udesh summoned the CM’s wife to be questioned on October 25.

During Parvathi’s interrogation, she allegedly explained her correspondence with MUDA, stating that she filed five representations, demanding just general remuneration and not specific locations. She claimed that the inconsistent signatures across documents were caused by her infrequent signing and denied that her husband or son had any role in this issue.

In response to a special court order, the case was filed following a FIR against Siddaramaiah, Parvathi, her brother Mallikarjuna Swamy (A3), and others on September 27. Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot approved the investigation, and the Karnataka High Court later upheld this ruling. Siddaramaiah questioned Gehlot’s authorization of the inquiry against him and requested a division bench review.
