Man granted bail on the condition of chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” 21 times

The MP High Court grants bail to a man named Faizal on a unique condition. The condition is he has to salute the Indian flag and chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” 21 times on every first and fourth Tuesday of the month. Faizal was arrested on May 17 when he shouted the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad, Hindustan Murdabad” in public. He was booked on charges under Section 153B of the Indian Penal Code for promoting enmity among different communities and disrupting public harmony.

On Tuesday, the defense lawyer said Faizal has been wrongly accused in this case and his case can be single-handedly dealt with a maximum sentence of three years by the magistrate. He also mentions that Faizal has been very cooperative with the court proceedings from the start.

However the prosecution stands against Faizal’s bail plea and brings up his past criminal history where there are 13 cases registered under his name. He mentions Faizal’s action as a threat to national harmony. “If he is not feeling happy and satisfied in this nation, he may shift to the other country of his choice,” the state’s counsel said, suggesting Faizal’s alleged actions showed disrespect for his birthplace.

Justice DK Paliwal, considering all the facts and circumstances of this case found a compromise, granting bail on some conditions that are totally intended to foster a sense of responsibility and national pride in Faizal. “There is no doubt that the applicant has a criminal background of 13 criminal cases and in the video he is clearly seen shouting the slogan Pakistan Zindabad, Hindustan Murdabad. However, taking everything into consideration, I am of the view that the applicant may be released on bail by imposing some conditions which may enthuse him the sense of responsibility and a pride for the country which is his birthplace,” added Paliwal.
