Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, was ridiculed by BJP leaders on Friday for some of the remarks made by the Congress leader during his speech.
Gandhi was ridiculed by BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra and the head of the party’s IT department, Amit Malviya, who shared excerpts of the speech’s video on X.
Gandhi was criticized by them for stating in his speech that “tapasya” is intended to “generate heat in the body.”
The BJP officials also emphasized Gandhi’s remarks that Dronacharya severed his thumb and his allusion to Eklavya, an archer in “Mahabharat,” as a six-seven-year-old youngster.
In his post on X, Patra added that “George Soros is the source of such knowledge.”
On the other hand, Malviya wrote: “This round goes to Rahul Gandhi. He remains the undisputed king of bloopers.”
Several Union ministers and other BJP members were observed giggling during Gandhi’s speech.
Rahul Gandhi’s attacks on BJP
Gandhi, who took part in a debate on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption, called it a “document of modern India” and asserted that old India and its concepts were essential to its creation.
Rahul Gandhi said, “The Constitution is a document of modern India but it could never have been written without ancient India and her ideas”.
He also invoked VD Savarkar, revered by the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, saying,”I want to start my speech by quoting what the Supreme Leader, not of the BJP but of the modern interpretation of the ideas of the RSS has to say about the Constitution of India and about how he thinks India should be run. The worst thing about the Constitution of India is that there is nothing Indian about it. Manusmriti is that scripture which is most worshippable after Vedas for our Hindu nation and from which our ancient times have become the basis for our culture, customs, thought and practice”.
Gandhi stated, “These are the words of Savarkar…Savarkar has clearly stated in his writings that there is nothing Indian about our Constitution. He has clearly stated that the book India is run by should be superseded by this book. This is what the fight is about”.
