The Bandra Police in Mumbai have filled a case against an unidentified individual, after receiving a threatening call on a police landline indicating plans to kill Bollywood celebrity Shah Rukh Khan. In cooperation with the Cyber Police station, the police have started the inquiry.
The Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita’s Sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) have been used to record the complaint. Following several similar threats made against fellow actor Salman Khan in recent months, Shah Rukh Khan is now the target of another threat. Authorities are working to find the callers and to protect the actors.
A senior police official told PTI, “Bandra police station received a call threatening Shah Rukh Khan and asking for ₹50 lakh. A crime has been reported. No arrest has been made yet”.
According to reports, the call was traced back to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, by the Mumbai Police team. The probe is still ongoing, and teams have now departed for Chhattisgarh.
Earlier on November 5, The Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly sent a threat message against actor Salman Khan to the Mumbai Police. The actor was given the choice to either apologize or pay ₹5 crore to be alive in the threat message.
Through WhatsApp, the Mumbai Police traffic control room received a threat message from mobster Lawrence Bishnoi stating that Salman Khan must survive. “He should go to our temple and apologize or give ₹5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him, our gang is still active,” the message claiming to be in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother said. In the last week, Salman Khan has received two threats of death. A ransom of ₹2 crore was requested from the actor in the previous death threat that Mumbai Police Traffic Control also received. A Jamshedpur man was detained by the Mumbai Police earlier on October 24 for threatening Salman Khan on behalf of mobster Lawrence Bishnoi and demanding a ₹5 crore ransom.
Mumbai Police said that after receiving a threatening communication, they opened an investigation and filed a case against an unidentified individual.
