Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has conceded defeat in the Delhi assembly election.

Arvind Kejriwal said in a video message, “We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted for them”.
According to Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP would continue to serve the people of Delhi and act as a constructive opposition.
He continued, “Over the past ten years, we have made significant progress in the areas of infrastructure, education, and health. We will stay among the people and keep helping them, in addition to acting as a constructive opposition”.
The BJP is leading in 38 seats and has won 12 of them. With ten seats gained, the Aam Aadmi Party is in the lead in another ten. Once again, the Congress seems to have failed to open its account.
The New Delhi constituency was not won by Arvind Kejriwal. The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party lost to Parvesh Verma of the BJP by 4089 votes.
The former chief minister of Delhi received 25999 votes, while Verma received 30088. Sandeep Dikshit, a congressional candidate, garnered 4568 votes.
Following the 2013 assembly election, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party initially partnered with the Congress to establish a 49-day government. With 67 of the 70 seats in the union territory, the party swept to victory in 2015. The party won 62 seats in 2020, repeating its previous showing. It has never won a Delhi parliamentary seat, though, and its performance in the national capital’s Lok Sabha elections was still appalling.
Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal are two AAP leaders who have been charged with corruption in recent years. After months in jail, Kejriwal, Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Satyendar Jain are all free on bond.
Modi reacts to Delhi results
In response to the BJP’s victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that it was a win for progress and responsible leadership.
He wrote on X, “Jana Shakti is paramount! Development wins, good governance triumphs. I bow to my dear sisters and brothers of Delhi for this resounding and historic mandate to BJP. We are humbled and honoured to receive these blessings. It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for the people and ensuring that Delhi has a prime role to play in building a Viksit Bharat”.
