In the early hours of Saturday, a fire broke out at the under-construction Sabarmati bullet train station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, according to the news agency PTI.

Fire department stated that the fire started around 6:30 A.M. Thirteen fire engines were hurried into action and then the fire was brought under control.
According to a statement released by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the organization in charge of the project, a fire was reported in the roof shuttering on one section of the construction site.
As per the preliminary evaluation, the fire was most likely caused by welding sparks from temporary shuttering work. The statement stated, “No injuries or casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but prima facie, it appears that welding sparks from temporary shuttering work may have triggered it”.
NHSRCL officials are still keeping an eye on the situation there.
The first bullet train terminal in India, with cutting-edge architectural features, is located at Sabarmati. The Japanese government is providing financial and technical support for the project. In December 2023, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted a video of its contemporary architecture on X.
The 508-kilometer Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project includes the Sabarmati stop. Twelve stations are proposed for Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand/Nadiad, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati. The project spans Gujarat (352 km) and Maharashtra (156 km).
