Saif Ali Khan Attacked By Knife At His Mumbai House; Actor Is Now Stable

Early on Thursday morning, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed during a reported burglary at his 11th-floor Bandra home. After defending himself against an invader who had broken into his apartment, the 54-year-old actor was stabbed six times. After a fierce altercation with the actor, the attacker left the scene.

According to police, Khan’s maid and the intruder got into a physical altercation before the star stepped in. Ibrahim, Khan’s son, and a caregiver hurried him to the hospital following the assault.

It was later that day that the first CCTV photograph of the invader was made public.

Police: ‘Used fire escape staircase to enter Saif Ali Khan’s house’

During a news briefing, Mumbai police announced that they have identified one suspect in relation to the incident. According to the police, the suspects used the fire escape to enter Khan’s house. With the goal to rob, the accused went inside the actor’s house.

DCP of Zone 9, Dixit Gedam said, “Last night, the accused used a fire escape staircase to enter Saif Ali Khan’s house. It appears to be a robbery attempt. We working to arrest the accused. 10 detection teams are working on the case. An offence has been registered in Bandra Police Station”.

In addition, the Mumbai police have ruled out any involvement of the Bishnoi gang in the attempted break-in at Saif Ali Khan’s home. They have verified that it is a simple example of a burglary gone wrong. The defendant has been identified.

To perform a thorough investigation into the attack on Khan, an investigative team traveled to his home in Mumbai.

Doctor: ‘Sustained a major injury to thoracic spinal cord’

Following surgery for wounds he acquired during the incident, the physicians at Lilavati Hospital verified that Saif Ali Khan was in stable condition. According to Dr. Nitin Dange, Khan was brought in at two in the morning with a serious lesion to his thoracic spinal cord from a knife that had been trapped in his spine.

Dr Nitin Dange said, “He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger now”.

Following a successful surgery, Saif Ali Khan was sent to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a day of observation, according to Lilavati Hospital’s chief operating officer (COO), Dr. Niraj Uttamani. The team of doctors has been keeping a tight eye on him.

According to Dr. Uttamani, Saif had two abrasions, two intermediate injuries, and two deep wounds. During the procedure, which included both plastic surgery and neurosurgery, a 2.5-inch piece of knife was successfully removed from his spine.

He said, “He has been shifted to the ICU from the Operation Theatre for one-day observation. After that, we will decide tomorrow. Right now, he is looking absolutely fine. He is on a recovery path. The recovery should be 100 per cent as per our initial understanding. There are two deep wounds, two intermediate and two abrasions. We have removed a 2.5-inch long knife piece from his spine”.

Saif Ali Khan’s team issues statement on his health condition

The actor’s team also verified that Khan is no longer in danger after completing the surgery successfully.

The event happened at the actor’s house, and the authorities are currently looking into it, the statement continued, adding that all family members are safe.

The team said in a statement, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident”.

Information about the stabbing incident

Khan’s family was reportedly present when the intruder broke into his house. According to preliminary investigations, Khan broke up a violent confrontation between the attacker and a maid after Khan intervened. Using CCTV footage from the location, police are investigating how the intruder got past the building’s security.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team releases statement

The attempted burglary was also confirmed by a statement from Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team. The actor suffered an arm injury, but the rest of the family is unharmed, the statement stated.

“There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and (his wife and actor) Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine,” the statement said.

Among all mega cities in the country, Mumbai is the safest: CM Fadnavis

In response to the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated, “All the information has been provided to you (media) by the police. They have told you about the person’s probable motivation and possible origins. Among all the mega cities in the country Mumbai is the safest. It is true that such incidents happen but it cannot be used to besmirch Mumbai’s image. Such incidents should be taken seriously and the government will take all necessary action”.
