Gujarat: Two Injured After IED Delivered At Home Explodes; 1 Held

A Gujarat High Court advocate’s clerk and his brother were injured on Saturday when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was brought to their Ahmedabad home detonated. The individual who sent the homemade bomb was taken into custody by the police, who said that the event resulted from a personal conflict.

The incident happened on Saturday at 10.45 a.m. A homemade bomb was delivered to Baldev Sukhadia’s residence by Gaurav Niranjan Gadhvi. Baldev and his brother Kirit were injured when the explosive detonated, according to the police. Locals apprehended Gadhvi during his attempt to flee and turned him over to the police, who arrived at the scene soon after learning of the low-intensity explosion.

Nirajkumar Badgujar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector-1, Ahmedabad, announced that Gadhvi had been taken under custody.

According to the police, Kirit was also injured by the razor blades that were inside the IED, even though Baldev and Kirit both sustained minor burn injuries. Although they are awaiting confirmation from the forensic science laboratory team, the police assume that the bomb was detonated remotely.

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) investigated Rupen Kishor Barot’s residence after Baldev informed the police that he suspected him, finding three domestically made pistols and materials for building bombs, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajit Rajian.

Badgujar said, “It primarily appears that Rupen Barot and his wife Hetal are divorced and that Barot blamed Baldev for this… it appears to be a personal revenge issue at this point but the investigation is underway”.

In the meantime, Gadhvi was questioned by the Sabarmati police, who were in charge of the situation. He apparently said to the police that his only job was to deliver the device. The cops claim he was aware of what was inside the package.

Among other things, Gadhvi and Barot have been charged with attempting to commit murder.
