Man Killed, Shots Fired At Another’s House As 3 Minors Go On Rampage In Delhi

On early Sunday morning, three young people were arrested by the Delhi Police after they went on a shooting rampage in northeast Delhi, killing a 24-year-old man.

Mohammed Nadeem,24, who shot dead in the incident

According to officers, the 16–17-year-old boys are members of a group that has ties to jailed gangster Ashim Ahmad, also known as Hashim Baba. A local gangster ordered the children to travel approximately 5km on a stolen scooter to Jyoti Nagar, where they opened fire on a house after first shooting two men with whom they had a financial disagreement within Kabir Nagar near Welcome, killing one of them, according to the police.

Rakesh Paweriya, the deputy commissioner of police for the northeast, stated that the three were captured within hours of the murder being reported.

Officers providing case facts claimed that at 1:39 am, the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital called the police control center to report that two males had been brought with gunshot wounds, one of whom had been pronounced dead upon arrival. Police identified the dead as Welcome resident Mohammed Nadeem, 24, after they started an inquiry. A neighbor named Shahnawaz, 23, was recognized as injured.

“Three people shot Nadeem and Shahnawaz, according to a PCR call that was received. Three empty cartridges and a bike were discovered at the crime scene”, said Paweriya.

According to the police investigation, three attackers shot Nadeem, Shahnawaz, and their companion Aman (who was only known by his first name) as they were riding a scooter in Kabir Nagar at around one in the morning. Aman escaped the shower of gunshots, but Shahnawaz and Nadeem were killed. The three attackers fled the scene using their scooter, which they also left behind while seeking shelter.

Another incident was also reported to investigators at 1.26 am from Jyoti Nagar. Rahul Kumar, the caller, claimed that three attackers on a scooter had shot seven-eight rounds at his residence. Kumar’s family stated, he got into a fight with some people, and in September, his older brother Anil was shot and injured.

According to police, footage from a Jyoti Nagar CCTV camera showed three individuals on a scooter shooting at Kumar’s home before escaping. CCTV video and human intelligence were utilized to identify the defendants as adolescents.

A thorough investigation revealed that the police team’s description of the attackers was comparable in both cases. The group determined the suspects based on information gathered from multiple sources. After many raids, they were captured by late morning, Paweriya stated, adding that two semi-automatic handguns, a domestically manufactured handgun, and several cartridges were found in their possession.

The three young people are members of an organization known as the “Makoka gang,” which is exclusively operated by minors and frequently collaborates with the Hashim Baba gang, according to a second investigating officer.  “The firing incident at GTB hospital in July, where a man was accidentally killed, also involved one of the members of the so-called Makoka gang,” the officer stated.
