FX emerged as a powerhouse at Wednesday morning’s Emmy nominations, with “The Bear” setting a comedy-series record with 23 nominations and “Shogun” leading all nominees with 25 in a dominant year across categories for the network.
“The Bear” received nods for best comedy series and best actor in a comedy series for Jeremy Allen White, both of which it won at January’s strike-delayed ceremony. Ayo Edebiri also earned a nomination as the best supporting actress. Guest acting nominations for Jamie Lee Curtis and Olivia Colman further boosted the show.
“Shogun” capitalized on the absence of last year’s top nominees—”Succession,” “The White Lotus,” and “The Last of Us”—to dominate the drama categories, securing Emmy nominations for best drama series, best actress in a drama series for Anna Sawai, and best actor for Hiroyuki Sanada. Initially considered for the limited series category, “Shogun” shifted to drama after its makers announced potential plans for more seasons.
