The Indian cricket team is on a Zimbabwe tour for a five-match T20 series. The first two matches have already been played. In the first match, India faced a 13-run defeat. However, the team made a strong comeback in the second T20 match, winning by 100 runs. The team is being led by Shubman Gill, and several young players who have performed well in the IPL and domestic cricket have been given a chance.
The selectors announced the squad for the Zimbabwe tour during the T20 World Cup. Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube, who were part of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, were also selected for the Zimbabwe tour. However, after winning the T20 World Cup, the Indian team got stuck in Barbados, West Indies. As a result, the BCCI had to make changes to the squad. Sai Sudharsan, Harshit Rana, and Jitesh Sharma were included for the first two T20 matches against Zimbabwe. Only Sai Sudharsan got a chance to play, while Harshit Rana and Jitesh Sharma remained on the bench.
The main issue is that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube have joined the Indian squad in Zimbabwe. This situation poses a risk for Sai Sudharsan, Harshit Rana, and Jitesh Sharma, who might be dropped from the playing XI or the squad. The BCCI has not yet made any decision regarding this. If these three players remain in the team, the BCCI must announce a new squad. Alternatively, the BCCI might exclude these three players and ask them to stay with the team. The final decision will be made in due course.
