In response to the Union Budget for 2025–2026 that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had presented the day before, Gujarat BJP President C R Paatil and Union Minister for Jal Shakti claimed on Sunday that it was the first budget in which the people’s income had increased rather than the government’s.
During a news conference in Surat, Paatil said these things.
In reference to the declaration that income up to Rs 12 lakh will not be subject to tax, Paatil was reported in an official party statement as stating, “For salaried individuals, taxable income up to Rs 12.75 lakh and for others, income up to Rs 12 lakh has been made tax-free.” This is the first budget in which the people’s income has increased while the government’s income has not.
Paatil also mentioned other budgetary provisions, stating that they will help people from all social classes—including the impoverished, women, and farmers—realize their dreams.
Speaking about the Jal Shakti ministry’s efforts, Paatil stated that 75 crore individuals and 15.44 crore homes had received water through the Jal Jeevan Mission. He went on to say that 4.33 crore people need water, and the budget has allocated Rs 67 crore for that purpose. Minister Mukesh Patel and Surat Mayor Daxesh Mavani were among those who accompanied Paatil during the seminar.
