486 Fake Property Cards Made In Gujarat, 3 Officials Booked

The CID (crime) Surat unit charged three government officials and associates of the allegedly phoney real estate company Samruddhi Corporation with fabricating 486 farmer property cards in order to usurp their land parcels in the neighboring villages of Dumas, Gavier, and Vanta and to plot there.

The police detained deputy director KP Gamit, superintendent AD Patel, and a data entry operator from the City Survey Superintendent’s office in response to a complaint made by 47-year-old Azad Ramoliya, who owns a factory in Ankleshwar and works as a farmer.

According to an influential daily, Ramoliya asserted that between 2017 and 2022, 135 fictitious property cards were made for his six plots in Dumas and one in Vanta village, as well as 351 other properties, by government agents and Samruddhi Corporation promoters. He said that no infraction had yet been reported in spite of his continuous complaints to the district collector and other officials. According to him, the farmers’ names were included in the 7/12 extract, and the Silent Zone concept was used to sell the plots as farmhouses.

PB Sanghani told the daily: “We have booked three government officials and partners of Samruddhi Corporation for cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy under IPC. We have started collecting evidence against the accused, but no arrests have been made yet.”

Ramoliya stated that in 2016 and 2017, he bought the six plots from Rasik Lallubhai, a farmer from Magdalla. The names of Ramoliya and his family members were included in the 7/12 extract of each parcel. In 2022, he received a property card for plot 803 from a land broker who wanted to sell the land.

After carefully going over a lot of official records, Ramoliya was shocked to find that many property cards were registered on the land he and his family owned. According to Ramoliya, he made contact with the collectorate, the DILR, the mamlatdar, the prant officer, the municipal commissioner, and others on August 17, 2022. According to him, he complained to the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) last year, but it was closed without any action.
