In a scathing attack on the Congress on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) charged Rahul Gandhi with taking advantage of the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for his own political advantage. They said Gandhi flew to Vietnam to celebrate the New Year while the nation grieved his death.
In a post on X, Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP IT unit, said, “Rahul Gandhi has flown to Vietnam to ring in the new year while the country is mourning Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s demise”.
He said his disdain for Gandhi is indisputable and accused him of politicizing and using Dr. Singh’s passing for his own political advantage.
He added, “Sikhs are hated by the Congress and the Gandhis. Remember that the Darbar Sahib was desecrated by Indira Gandhi”.
The Congress responded by asking when the diversionary politics of the Sanghis will end.
“When will the Sanghis cease their politics of diversion?” In a post on X, Congress leader Manickam Tagore gave a forceful response.
He claimed it was unfair that his ministers cornered Dr. Singh’s family and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi forbade him from being cremated on the Yamuna banks. “Get well in the new year,” he said.
He asked Malviya, “Why does it bother you if Gandhi travels in private?”
