On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ahmedabad sentenced two people to three years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in connection with a 2012 corruption case.
The then-Food Corporation of India (FCI), DO, Rajkot manager Yogesh Harivadan Patel and another accused, Punit Jaysukh Solanki, were also fined a total of Rs 40,000 by the special judge for CBl cases.
According to the CBI statement, on December 22, 2012, the federal agency filed a case against the accused after receiving a complaint. The complaint claims that Patel requested and received a payment of Rs 5,000 in exchange for paying the complainant’s company’s expenses.

On September 20, 2013, the charge sheet was submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The private individual was charged with “abetting the offence,” while the accused were charged with “demanding and accepting illegal gratification and criminal misconduct committed by the accused public servant.”
The court found them guilty after a trial and imposed the appropriate sentence.
