On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that his government was striving for “One Nation One Election,” which would guarantee simultaneous elections for the state and Lok Sabha assemblies.
PM Narendra Modi also emphasized the spirit of inspiration and unity on the anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth in Kevadia, Gujarat. He said that the past ten years had seen “unprecedented achievements for the unity of India” and that every government endeavor and objective will represent the country’s oneness. To maximize the use of India’s resources, promote democracy, and give the nation fresh impetus to realize its aspirations of being a developed nation, we are currently working towards One Nation One Election. According to Modi, India is currently working toward a secular civil code known as “One Nation, One Civil Code.”
Modi called on every Indian to identify and fight these “Urban Naxals”—agents of dissension aiming to destroy the country’s unity—saying that some elements, alarmed by India’s growing power and unity, want to cause disorder, destabilize the country’s economy, and discourage foreign investment. Invoking democracy and the Constitution, these individuals are attempting to split India among her citizens. This partnership of urban Naxalites must be acknowledged. As my countrymen, we have seen a steady decline in the armed youth-based Naxalism that flourished in the forests, giving rise to a new urban Naxalism paradigm. Speaking under false pretenses, Modi stated, “We must find and take on those who want to destroy the nation and spread ideas that threaten it.”
PM Modi stated, “The 150th anniversary of Sardar Patel’s birth begins today, and the nation will commemorate this milestone for the following two years. This honors his outstanding services to India. His outstanding accomplishments will be honored throughout this time, and every government endeavor and purpose will reflect the oneness of the country. Some individuals around the world predicted that India would fall apart after gaining its freedom. They had no hope that Sardar Sahib could bring hundreds of princely states together to form a united India. Sardar Sahib was a realist in his conduct, honest in his determination, humanitarian in his deeds, and nationalist in his goal, which made this possible”.
On ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas,’ PM Modi also discussed how his greatest homage to Sardar Patel is the realization of a united nation and constitution. On the 150th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth, Prime Minister Modi honored him at the Statue of Unity earlier in the day, saying that Patel’s contributions will continue to motivate coming generations. He gave the Unity Oath after paying respect to Patel and then went to the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ march at Kevadia’s march Ground.
